Silvicultural System: A process that applies silvicultural practices, including tending (thinning, pruning, etc.), harvesting, and renewal, to a stand in order to produce a crop of timber and other forest products. Systems are classified according to the method of harvesting of mature forest stands with a view to regeneration establishment, (i.e., selection, shelterwood, clearcut). (MNR 1996)
